ABOUT US

Advocates For Animal Rights (AFAR) is a 501c3 Companion Animal Rescue. AFAR has two locations: our first location is In the Beautiful State of Michigan, and our second location is in the Impressive State of Tennessee!

Our primary goal is to raise NO-KILL Companion Animal Sanctuary's at both sites, offering a safe haven to all homeless animals. They will have permanent, safe and loving place to live until a forever home for them is found. However, if a forever home is not readily available, the sanctuary will remain their home away from home until a forever home is found.

Several Ways of Supporting AFAR

How Can I Show My Support For AFAR?

Giving back is a time honored belief system throughout many human cultures. Whether its called Tithing, Pay-It-Forward, Carma, What Goes Around-Comes Around, Donate, or Charity , it is simply the act of  giving away something of value to support or contribute toward the needs or the benefit of another. We teach sharing to our children. Some believe its just a good thing to do. Others believe that you have to give something back to receive something. However, when you give back there is a reward. It makes you feel good.

  • Currency/Checks: Whether it’s a one time gift, or a monthly contribution, donating to The AFAR Giving Tree is one option available. After you submit your donation(s), we encourage you to add your name to The AFAR Giving Tree section on our website.
  • Virtually Adopting An Animal: Some animals, because of no fault of their own are temporally unadoptable. They may need to recover from surgery, or go through some form of physical or psychological rehabilitation. If you are unable to care for animal personally, or just have more Love to give to another, sponsoring or virtually adopting one of these special needs animals is a wonderful alternative to physical care-giving. You will develop a special bond with “your” animal as you watch them work through the recovery process and begin to flourish as time goes on. As you receive regular progress reports, you will feel good knowing that YOU have played an instrumental role in helping to save this animal’s life. You have directly assisted in the rehabilitation or medical recovery of this beautiful living being.
  • Gift Cards: Who hasn’t received a gift card that was eventually was re-gifted? Re-gifted Gift cards will be used to help AFAR purchase the supplies necessary for AFAR’s daily operations, and special needs items.
  • Planned Giving: This involves inserting Bequests, Gift Annuities, or other Gift Options via your Will for the benefit AFAR. You may even earn special tax credits. This is a very popular option. What a wonderful way to Commemorate Your Life. See your lawyer for specific tax information.
  • A Memorial: Do you have a Special Person or Animal that you would like to Honor? AFAR has several ways of accomplishing this goal:
    • Our Walkway of Honor: will be comprised of specially engraved bricks along our main walkways with your Beloved One’s Name and any added sentiment you choose.
    • The AFAR Wishing Well: you will be able to cast your spare change into our on-site Wishing Well and make a wish, for they can come true!
  • Supplying Items on The AFAR Wish List: Whether it’s a set of towels, ink cartridges, cat litter, baby bottles, stainless steel bowls, blankets, heat lamp, or a shelving unit, AFAR is always in need of various supplies. See The AFAR Wish List of our current needs.
  • Vehicle Donation: Whether it’s a Car, Van. Jeep, Truck, Camper, Boat, or other Recreational Vehicle, is a no-hassle tax deductible way to donate.
  • Property: AFAR has the ability to accept property, plots of land, acreage. Per your wishes some of this land could be designated as a natural area.
  • Create a Charitable Wedding Registry: What is a Charitable Wedding Registry? A Charitable Wedding Registry is similar to a traditional gift registry, except that the couple asks guests to fund specific nonprofits and donation gifts instead of (or in addition to) purchasing towels, china, toasters, or other conventional gifts. The gift (donation) made to AFAR is tax deductible too! To create a Charitable Wedding Registry contact us for further information.
