Advocates For Animal Rights (AFAR) is a 501c3 Companion Animal Rescue. AFAR has two locations: our first location is In the Beautiful State of Michigan, and our second location is in the Impressive State of Tennessee!

Our primary goal is to raise NO-KILL Companion Animal Sanctuary's at both sites, offering a safe haven to all homeless animals. They will have permanent, safe and loving place to live until a forever home for them is found. However, if a forever home is not readily available, the sanctuary will remain their home away from home until a forever home is found.

Our website would not be possible without the generous support of a truly awesome organization called Grassroots.orgThe mission of Grassroots.org is to help charities succeed by providing them with modern technologies and best practices at no cost. This grant is such a boost for our agency! A gifted designer Adam Hustwit of Web Design & Development, and a Grassroots volunteer first conceptualized and designed our superb looking website.  Also a gifted designer, Dario Calonaci, a Logo|Identity|Brand Design Specialist is the designer of our truly inspired logo, letterhead and business cards.  We couldn’t be more pleased with our new website & logo. Thank you for everything ya’all did for us to help us save animals lives!

Also, there are my Dearest Friends, my Kindred Spirits. Individually, and collectively you’ve all inspired me when I needed a nudge, a bump on the noggin, or full out support. First, our Executive Board members Tammy, Board Chairperson, Denise- Vice Chair, Dale- Finance Team Lead, and Char- Secretary. We did it guys- we’re one step closer! Secondly, when I felt exhausted and depleted, Kathleen, Jennifer, Yvonne, Jeni, Rosemary, Lynn & Carrie, and Dawn were all always there for me, sharing their experience, strength, and hope.  Also, thank you to our board members (you too Burney!) and volunteers for all your help. You were there whenever AFAR needed you- kudos people! I Love you all so very much. Moreover, Mom & Dad, thank you for instilling in my siblings and me your respect for life, your compassion, wisdom & Love for all animals (even snakes ha-ha mom)! And finally, a big Thank You to my best bud Gordon who picked up the slack for me so very many times during and after I’d put in too many 16 hour sessions working and re-working out the content for this website.
